Blue for You
With A/W collections from Louise Vuitton and Ellie Saab through to John Paul Gaultier showcasing fabulous cobalt and indigo blue designs, this was undoubtedly going to be a shade to watch. Strong and vibrant, Louis Vuitton went for an on-trend colour clash by teaming with black for an eighties vibe with an emphasis on block colour.

It's a Grey Day
Every season we hear the latest sought after shade has been crowned the ‘new black’ and this Autumn / Winter grey has been awarded the prestigious title. From soft dove through to deep charcoal, it’s a case of any shade goes – as long as it’s from the grey spectrum. While Julien Macdonald showcased designs in deep charcoal through to silver grey with equally contrasting fabrics from sweeping gowns draping silk jersey to luxurious faux fur, Luella went for a more contemporary feel with industrial grey knit dress with military influences and cute but classic charcoal skirts suits with blocks of black accents.

Purple Reign
Rich and decadent, all tones of purple from violet, grape and dusky amethyst are a sure hit for Autumn / Winter 09. The catwalks were alight with regal style as Oscar de la Renta, Gucci and Christian Dior focused on the most luxurious shade. While Zac Posen and Oscar de la Renta went for full on opulence with satin, Gucci focused on a strong block colour vibe by coordinating with black.

1. For full on evening glamour go for luxurious fabrics - satins, velvets and embellished silks in rich purple or violet
2. Accessorize with jewellery and hair accessories in coordinating tones for simple chic style or contrast will gold tone jewels for an emphasis on luxury
