"When the fabulous Sue of Glitzy Secrets fame dropped me a note asking if I could share my Top 10 unusual wedding venues I got a little bit excited.

I say a little, I mean a lot.

Firstly because my inner magpie is smitten with Glitzy Secrets and all it’s custom gems (*swoon*) and secondly because I’m so passionate about sharing the Coco Wedding Venues…

From beachside huts, to vintage fairground barns through to industrial city dwellings, I’m pretty confident there’s something for every Bride & Groom-to-be looking for their perfect and oh-so stylish wedding venue…

So, shall we…?

10. Lusty Glaze

Lusty Glaze Beach is a truly stunning and unique venue. Here you will find a beautiful private cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs overlooking the best sunsets in the UK.

Your ceremony will take place on the decking overlooking the beach with waves crashing onto the shore. Your reception commences in the beachside marquee where you can be treated to a delectable barbeque, paella or your favourite meal cooked to perfection. As the sun sets over the ocean, the celebrations continue into the night as you and your guests enjoy the incredible ambience that Lusty Glaze has to offer…

The best bit about this venue…? There is a zip wire for those looking to make a dramatic entrance! Epic.

9. Wedding Yurts

Wedding Yurts

The Wedding Yurts have been hand-crafted out of sweet chestnut wood and covered in cream canvas, providing the ideal solution for couples looking to host a reception that embraces the countryside, without losing the luxury and style that a bricks and mortar venue offer.

They can be installed in: a garden for a garden-style wedding party, a field for a festival-style wedding party, by a river or a lake for a picnic-style wedding party, or in the woods for a secret wedding party!

Wedding Yurts are perfect for couples looking to avoid conventional weddings and embrace the beautiful British countryside.

8. Smock Alley Theatre

Smock Alley Theatre

The restored 17th-century Smock Alley Theatre has to be experienced to be understood; between the multi-tiered theatre (formerly a boys’ school) and the stained-glass-windowed banquet hall, it’s a spacious nook along the banks of the Liffey.

It was the first custom-built theatre in the city and still remains in substantially the same form, making it one of the most important sites in European theatre history.

This is a whole heap of City Chic– bare brick, industrial backdrops with unique architectural features – oh and the cobblestones of Cow’s Lane make for quite the photo backdrop.

7. The Dolls House

The Dolls House

With a keen eye and attention to detail The Dead Dolls Club specializes in organizing stylish parties and weddings.

A pop-up venue, they are currently in residence in an old textile factory overlooking the historic Hoxton Square until early 2015.

Aptly named The Dolls House this unique venue is set over 3 floors with its very own roof terrace. Each floor is hand illustrated to depict
ornate rooms in a grand manor house from the downstairs parlour to the upstairs ballroom.

By day the rooms are flooded with daylight and by night and lit with candlelight the rooms are transformed to suit intimate dinners, parties and drink receptions.

6. Louise Blouin Foundation

Louise Blouin Foundation

Built in the 1920′s, 3 Olaf Street was the original home for Barker & Co coach builders, who provided parts for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Daimler. Since then the building has had a varied history and has been though many incarnations before it opened as the home of the Louise Blouin Foundation, an organisation committed to promoting the value of culture and creativity.

The interior provides striking white spaces that are easily adaptable giving every creative Bride and Groom the opportunity to let their personality shine and imagination sparkle!

By day, the building is flooded with natural daylight, by night the windows are illuminated in a moving spectrum of colour provided by the legendary artist James Turrell.

5. Preston Court

Preston Court is a very enchanting and diverse venue, set on an old fashioned farm in the Kent countryside. In the grounds of the Georgian House, Peacocks roam freely and there are horses in the surrounding fields.

The 17th century Kentish Barn is a simple but enchanting building, which can seat up to 120 people for ceremonies and receptions. In the Barn there are two stunning Art Deco and Art Nouveau mechanical organs, which not only have the wow factor but can also be played to the delight of your guests!

The Victorian carousel is another real crowd pleaser!  Available for use all day and evening!

The entertainment of guests is a running theme at Preston Court…

At the foot of the West Cliff lift, on the sandy beach of Bournemouth – Dorset, lies the cute little ivory wedding hut that is Beach Weddings Bournemouth.

This venue is all about relaxed guests and gallivanting fun in the crisp, blue British waters…

This is the only wedding venue in England and Wales that enables you to marry right on the beach… Oh and what a beach Bournemouth has! All glistening sands and cool, clear waters.

The Wedding Hut is the focus of this venue with beautiful marquees sheltering your guests from the British weather, be it from the rain or the blazing sun!

3. West Reservoir Centre

West Reservoir Centre

If you want a City Chic venue with a quirky punch then look no further…

West Reservoir Centre is one of the most unique spaces in London - a 1930s red-brick tower boasting fascinating structural design elements and flooded by natural light.

The perfect setting for wedding receptions, the outdoor terraces overlook the glistening water providing an incomparable experience in a one-of-a-kind venue.

2. Petersham Nurseries

Nestled down a secluded road is Petersham Nurseries – a perfect rustic venue, just minutes from the centre of London.

Invite your guests to dine amongst flowers and plants at antique tables in the main glasshouse and enjoy seasonal, produce led cooking.

You are fortunate to have two talented in-house florists who are able to consult on flower arrangements, helping you envision and create the most perfect seasonal displays to compliment the natural beauty of Petersham Nurseries.

This venue is, without doubt, one of the most unique, beautiful and greenest venues in London.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than drinking champagne under the twinkling lights of the greenhouse…

1. Roman Baths & Pump Room

Situated at the heart of the World Heritage Site, the Roman Baths and Pump Room is without doubt one of the most distinctive buildings in the country…

The Roman Baths, steeped in history, with its origins dating back 2000 years, is a truly magical setting that will delight and fascinate your guests!

Sunrise Weddings can be followed by a wedding breakfast in the Georgian Pump Room. Or in the evenings, after a Sunset Wedding, you can choose to have your reception in either the Pump Room or Terrace and Reception Hall.

What could be more romantic and impressive than exchanging your vows amid the flickering torchlight and rising steam from the waters of the Great Bath?

I must admit, putting this list together was incredibly difficult – difficult because the venues I work with on Coco are all just so darn fabulous and it was a test to have to choose just 10 to share with you!

There are new venues being added each and every day to our portfolio… So come and follow Coco Wedding Venues on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates and new additions to our family.

If you are in search of a venue and would like my help, do get in touch, as I’m thrilled to be working with a small number of couples each month offering a bespoke venue finding service…

So folks, are you dreaming of an unusual wedding venue…?

Are you a Vintage doll or a City dweller…?

Or maybe you’re more of a Coastal Cool chick dreaming of sand beneath your feet…?"

Lots of love

Emma
