Costume Jewellery To Flatter Every Neckline

Accessorising the Right Way

Accessorising is just that. It's about using costume jewellery to add finishing touches and individuality to your outfit. Think of interior design - A 'finished' beautifully decorated room, sumptuous furniture, elegant curtains but no finishing touches. No luxurious cushions, no vase of fresh flowers, no scented candles, bare walls. Just a shell. In fact, anybody could live there. There's no individuality. It's the same with how you wear costume jewellery. Anyone can wear a little black dress - it's how you accessorize it that counts. Do it right and you'll look a million dollars - do it wrong and your outfit goes bankrupt.

Deciding what to wear can be a girls' worst nightmare. The relief of finally making that decision can mean less attention is paid to choosing which costume jewellery to wear. Obviously some colour co-ordination is needed and it's also always a good idea to consider the neckline of your outfit. Yes, it may mean being honest with yourself and admitting your favourite bold jewel-dropping necklace is too much with your V-neck black dress but it's also about discovering just how fabulous that same necklace looks with your strapless 50's style dress. Just remembering to put a little more thought into co-ordinating your costume jewellery with your outfit is the key to success.

Costume Jewellery and the V-Neckline:

To really make the most of this neckline, the emphasis needs to be on wearing costume jewellery that follows the outlines of the V shape. A slim pendant style neckline or a Y-necklace, both of which hang in a V shape, are the perfect style of necklace for this look. Because there is less flesh on show with a V-neckline, it's important not to opt for a bold bib style necklace. This is a time when a girl can have too much costume jewellery. And for evening elegance, a simple choker works just so well and elongates the neck. And a brooch pinned at the bottom point of the V also looks fabulous and draws the eye downwards which has a slimming effect.

Costume Jewellery and the Strapless Neckline:

This neckline gives the widest choice when it comes to costume jewellery. With so much flesh to decorate, it's the neckline to have fun with. If you love the glitz and glamour of the silver screen and adore your costume jewellery, a bold jewel-dropping choker/necklace and complimenting earrings will transform you into a Hollywood starlet. If necklaces aren't your thing, sparkling chandelier earrings and a crystal-encrusted bracelet or brooch will look so classy and chic.

Costume Jewellery and the Round Neckline:

This neckline can be tricky and the emphasis needs to be on the look you are trying to achieve. For lady-like chic, keep costume jewellery neat; a very simple short pearl necklace worn over a sweater looks chic and you also can't go wrong with an ultra long pendant but anything in between needs to be seriously thought about. A bold brooch looks fantastic and is a must for a round neckline.

Costume Jewellery and the Asymmetric Neckline

There's a simply rule when it comes to asymmetric neckline and necklaces - Don't do it! To really make the most of this neckline, it needs to be centre of attention and have no competition. Instead go for other costume jewellery - a bold bracelet or stunning earrings work so well.
