top ten resolutions for the new year

We can’t believe that 2018 is upon us and of course, the new year offers the chance for new beginnings, in the form of resolutions, promises and hopes. With that in mind, today we’re looking at 10 new year resolution ideas that are actually easy to keep, and they’ll help you on your way to a happy, balanced lifestyle. Let’s get started…

Beauty Resolutions

We’ll kick-start our recommended new year resolutions ideas with beauty. And ladies, our most important resolution is to always take your make-up off before you go to bed. Your skin will love you for the break each night and it will allow your skin to breath, recover and overall look a whole a lot better. We’re now spoilt with shelves bursting with make-up removers, sumptuous oils and the most innovative skincare, so there really are no excuses.

Sleep is so important – it’s called beauty sleep for a reason! Aim to get 7-9 hours a night and your body will definitely thank you for it. You’ll enjoy the benefits of healthy, glowing skin and of course, it helps to relieve stress. If you struggle getting to sleep, we suggest using a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow.

Make wearing SPF part of your daily skincare routine – no matter what the weather or season! You can incorporate it into your moisturiser or foundation and it’ll help prevent any signs of premature ageing and wrinkles, as well as most importantly, skin cancer. It’ll be an effortless addition to your skincare routine but completely worth it, and what’s more important than saving your skin?

Health Resolutions

Let’s focus on your health, and don’t fret, we’re not talking about losing weight and joining a gym! It’s time to start drinking more water and eat foods that make you feel good. It’s recommended that we drink 6-8 glasses of water a day and once you get into the habit, you will reap the rewards. If you’re finding it difficult, why not set a reminder on your phone?

Lifestyle Resolutions

We love the thought of finding a new hobby – one that you’ve always wanted to do but never found the time or confidence. We’ve got news for you! 2018 is all about making time and being confident, so it’s time to join that dance class, pick up those knitting needles and start enjoying something new.

Phones, iPads and laptops are everywhere we look and it’s not surprising that you’ll find most people spending their day browsing through social media. Use 2018 as an opportunity to have a ‘digital detox’ – put down the phone and live in the moment!

Another idea that’s made it to our top 10 new year’s resolution ideas is all about taking time out. Make time for date night, movie marathons and girly pamper evenings. Doing this often will help you to relax, unwind and appreciate.

Learn to cook something totally new and share it with your friends, family and loved ones! You’ll have great fun trying out new recipes and finding a signature dish that you can enjoy for years to come. Browse the bookshelves for various cook books and find something utterly delicious!

Set a specific goal that you’ve always wanted to do and make sure you achieve it by the end of the year. Whether it’s tackling that 5K race or reaching the top of a mountain, there will be no better feeling than knowing you’ve achieved it and that is what makes all of the hard work worth it.

Always look for the positives in every situation – a positive mind set will always take you one step closer to a happy, healthy and balanced lifestyle.
