Metal of the Moment: Classy Copper Wedding Ideas
If there’s been one theme that we’ve all fallen for over the past few years, it’s been metallics. We’ve all loved the mix of luxe and grit that metallics can bring to a wedding and copper is most certainly the metal of the moment. This rich, warm and slightly unusual metal is right at the top of my current crush list so let’s get inspired by cool copper…

Copper really is a wonderful wedding theme and, depending on your venue and your wedding style, you can opt to include an abundance of metallics or just throw in a few coppery highlights. I have to say that I can’t get enough of copper alongside geometrics and botanicals – this is a great look for both outdoor and cool urban weddings. Peach tones also work really well with copper and bring a softer look to your colour palette.
More and more designers are including embellishments in metallic tones so finding a gown with copper details shouldn’t be too tricky. Of course, you can accessorise any gown you like with copper shoes or jewellery and Glitzy Secrets’ Shimmer of Rose Gold Necklace and Rose of Grace Earrings would be perfect.
Bridesmaids of course can really embrace the copper theme with a coloured gown and guys in black or navy look super hot at a copper themed wedding. Add in some copper cufflinks or copper wire around their buttonholes for a totally joined-up look.
Then, when it comes to the rest of your wedding, you can get as creative with copper as you want! As your stationery is the first clue guests get about your wedding theme, why not start here with some beautiful invitations, edged with copper and cut into unexpected geometric shapes? For an indulgent touch, I love copper lined envelopes that are then finished with coppery calligraphy.
Hiring in copper chairs for your wedding breakfast might be a bit costly but it will be hugely impactful and really bring something special to your day. Modern shaped seats under huge hanging botanical installations are absolute showstoppers and you’re guaranteed a great reaction from guests.

Table settings can include as much or a little copper as you like. You could hire copper charger plates or copper cutlery, you could use coppery ribbon or simply print menus and place cards with copper ink. My favourite look however has to include metal geometric shapes that ooze flowers and greenery across the tabletops. This mix of hard metals and soft florals is an unbeatable combination in my opinion.
Hanging decorations are big news in the wedding world at the moment so mixing these with your copper theme is a fantastic idea. Simple copper tassel garlands, pinwheels or paper honeycomb balls are a cost effective option or, if your budget is a bit bigger, an eye-catching backdrop to your ceremony is a must-have.
If your groom is a bit of a DIY guy, making a wedding backdrop from copper piping that can then be adorned with greenery is a great project or, if you prefer your wedding crafts on a slightly less industrial scale, how about creating wedding signage in copper frames or a table plan made from paper or wafer thin metal shapes that hang from a botanical decoration?
So, now you’ve got a few ideas for a copper wedding theme, it’s over to you to make metallics shine at your wedding.
