5 Fabulously Festive Christmas Champagne Cocktail Recipes

December 10, 2015

Oh my goodness, what a fabulously festive feature I’ve got for you here! I’m sharing five of my absolute favourite champagne cocktail recipes, just in time for Christmas and the holiday party season. I will admit to having quite a weakness for cocktails – there’s something decadent and glamorous about them so stock up your drinks cupboard, bring out your best glasses and prepare to mix up something very special this Christmas…

The Roseberry Cocktail

The first champagne cocktail I’m going to introduce you to today is The Roseberry. This gorgeous signature cocktail from Wedding Yurts has won many fans and it’s perfect for this time of year. For one cocktail, simply add 25ml of raspberry gin and 13ml of rose liqueur to your glass and top it up with champagne. For a final flourish, decorate with pepper berries and enjoy.

Peach Bellini

I absolutely have to include a recipe for a classic Peach Bellini and this version from Wedding Chicks is rather brilliant. You need two ripe peaches (seeded and diced please!), 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, one teaspoon of sugar and one bottle chilled champagne (or indeed prosecco or sparkling white wine!). Pop the peaches, lemon juice and sugar in a food processor and blend until smooth, sieve the mixture and then place 2 tablespoons of the peach puree in each glass and fill with cold fizz. Yum!

Charlotta

Another festive favourite in our house is Jamie Oliver’s Charlotta which, as he says, has Christmas written all over it. Gather together 6 small brown sugar cubes, angostura bitters, 120ml brandy, 1 large orange and a bottle of bubbly. Add a sugar cube to each glass then a few drops of angostura bitters and a splash of brandy go into each glass too. Top up with champagne and add a few strips of orange peel to each glass. Simple and oh-so tasty!

French 75

If you’re feeling brave then a French 75 could be the tipple for you. Named after a devastating French canon, this cocktail certainly packs a punch so be warned! It is, however, the perfect combination of simplicity and style so it’s a real classic in my book. For each serving, shake together 45ml of dry gin, 10ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 5ml of sugar syrup with a good portion of cubed ice. Strain this into a champagne glass, top with champagne and finish with a twist of lemon.

Cucumber, Mint & Elderflower Cocktail

Finally, let’s bring a touch of summer to the depths of winter with a wonderfully refreshing cucumber, mint and elderflower champagne cocktail. You do need to plan this one in advance a little bit as firstly, you need to grate a large cucumber and then squeeze this over a fine sieve into a bowl. Add the juice of half a lemon and a 50g bunch of fresh mint (lightly bruised/crushed to release the aroma) into the cucumber juice and infuse for an hour. Pour 100ml of elderflower cordial into the mix and chill. Divide this mix between eight glasses and top up with champagne. You can garnish the glasses with a little shredded mint if you have some.

Now I’m finishing this feature feeling slightly guilty that I’ve not mentioned mimosas, Kir Royales, sparkling French martinis, cotton candy cocktails, raspberry & pomegranate champagne cocktails, champagne margaritas, black velvets, spiced apple cider sparklers or any of the other hundreds of amazing champagne cocktails that might take your fancy this Christmas. So, if you’re feeling in the need of more festive fizz, a little look online will soon having you bubbling over with inspiration!
