Mint and Gold Wedding Ideas

April 29, 2016

Mint and gold is one of our favourite wedding themes for 2016 – the combination of glittering metallics and pretty pastels suits all seasons, and can easily transform almost all aspects of your wedding day. If you love a mint and gold wedding theme as much as we do, here’s some gorgeous inspiration for you…

When it comes to your chosen colour scheme, your reception décor is one of the best places to add a touch of your chosen shade. For your wedding tables, why not buy or hire some glitzy gold sequin table runners as a metallic backdrop to mint details such as napkins, china and paper confetti? If you prefer mint to be your main colour, just opt for touches of gold on hired items such as candlesticks, cutlery and glasses. One area where gold looks particularly good is on stationery; nothing says elegance like golden calligraphy.

Mint green bridesmaids’ dresses are a wedding favourite, and for good reason; the shade suits most skintones, and is easy to find throughout the year (although we recommend going dress shopping in spring for the widest range of options). To match your theme you can treat your girls to golden accessories such as jewellery, metallic sandals or cover-ups. We also love the idea of your bridesmaids wearing mint while your maid of honour stands out in a gold sequin dress.

Speaking of accessories, these are the best way to incorporate your theme into your own bridal look. Gorgeous gold jewellery is making a sartorial comeback, and we can’t think of a better way to wear it than with a chic gold side tiara like this Gold Leaf Side Tiara, £110 from Glitzy Secrets. Add some beautiful golden droplet earrings or a delicate pendant – we love our Golden Beau necklace with pearl drop and diamante detailing, £18 from Glitzy Secrets. For the finishing touch, slip on a pair of mint and gold shoes for a surprising pop of colour that will look fab in your bridal photographs.

Gold cakes are becoming more and more popular at weddings, but add mint into the equation and you have a truly fabulous wedding cake. For a stylish take on the trend, opt for a mainly mint cake with gold leaf detailing – foliage and flowers look particularly good. If you’d rather have a more simple main cake, then play up your gold and mint theme in the dessert table, with pastel frosted cupcakes in metallic wrapping or mint macaroons sprinkled with edible gold glitter. The possibilities are endless!

One area of a mint and gold wedding theme that can be quite tricky is the flowers, as there aren’t many naturally mint green or golden flowers in the wild. If you’re not fussed about a fresh flower bouquet, then why not try a glittering gold brooch bouquet, or a gold and green fabric flower arrangement? For a quirky twist on a buttonhole, we’re loving the look of mint feathers dipped in glitter. If your heart is set on a flower bouquet, then we suggest choosing neutral white and cream shades with plenty of foliage, and then adding golden detailing such as a brooch or sequin ribbon around the stems. Succulents also make for a great pale green wedding bouquet.
