Dusty Blue and Grey Wedding Ideas
Blue has been a favourite among wedding colours for years now – whether it’s pretty duck egg, bright cerulean or stylish navy, it seems that brides’ ‘something blue’ is often their wedding theme! However, for 2016, we’re seeing a new shade of blue in town: dusty blue. It’s more muted and chic than baby blue, and pairs particularly well with grey and silver tones. Just take a look at this beautiful blue and grey wedding inspiration for proof…

Pastel coloured wedding dresses are seriously popular at the moment, and we can certainly see why! Instead of the usual blush or peach, however, why not try a stunning pale blue or grey wedding dress? It looks ethereal and delicate in fabrics like tulle and satin, and compliments plenty of skin tones.
Both dusty blue and silver grey make for classic bridesmaids choices, and can easily be mixed and matched for a cool take on the trend. If you have a group of four or more bridesmaids, then an ombre look fading from palest blue to steel grey would look incredible. Keep flowers in simple shades of ivory or pale pink to let the dresses do all the talking.
The easiest way to include blue in your bridal look is with jewellery and hair accessories! Choosing a flattering blue stone for your earrings or necklace is the perfect way to get a ‘something blue’ into your look, and is the ideal way to match your theme if you’d rather keep your dress white. Take a look at Glitzy Secrets’ Waterfall of Love range is beautifully subtle.

Blue flowers are a lot easier to come by than you might imagine! For the perfect dusty blue, try blooms such as hydrangea, thistle and nigella, along with soft blue-grey foliage like lamb’s ear, eucalyptus and succulents. All of these flowers work brilliantly for buttonhole and table arrangements, too.
If you don’t want an entirely blue bouquet, then you can mix these flowers with shades such as lilac, soft pink or ivory white for a gorgeous pastel arrangement, or deeper shades of purple for a more dramatic effect.
For a dreamy blue-grey cake, what better design than a cool watercolour ombre effect? Choosing something pretty and painterly is the best way to incorporate this colour scheme into your wedding cake. Alternately, choose a simple white or ivory buttercream frosting and decorate with sugar or fresh flowers in a dusty blue shade.
