Retro Monochrome Wedding Ideas with a Pop of Pink

February 23, 2017

Hello again and my goodness, today’s feature is definitely going to make you smile! I’m here to share some of my favourite ideas for a black, white and pink retro theme wedding with you and if you’d like your wedding to be seriously stylish with more than a dash of fun on the side then I think you’re going to absolutely love this…

OK, let’s start with your dress and for a retro theme a super cute knee length number is just what the style doctor ordered. Candy Anthony will always be on my list of favourites as will House of Mooshki because both are brilliant at creating iconic designs for brides. If you prefer a slinkier, sexier look, Vivien of Holloway should be your first port of call and, as you can order dresses from here in a huge range of colours, bridesmaids and even Mothers of the Bride and Groom could pick up the perfect vintage-inspired dress here too.

To keep your accessories on-theme, can I suggest a short but sweet birdcage veil, a cropped boxy jacket or little white gloves? If you’d like to carry a bridal handbag then a compact design is just what you need. Glitzy Secrets also has a fantastic range of 1950s hair accessories and 1960s inspired jewellery, all of which would be the perfect finishing touch for your wedding day look.

Now that you’ve got your outfit in hand, it’s time to talk decorations and I’ll start with flowers. Blowsy blooms with bags of character are definitely the order of the day for this theme and anything that takes itself too seriously just won’t cut it. Anemones, Peonies, Carnations and Dahlias would all be perfect and why not accessorise your bouquet, buttonholes and vases with a cool black and white striped ribbon?

When it comes to your food and drink, anything that’s reminiscent of an All-American Diner would be just fabulous. How about serving guests from food trucks or stalls or sending them home with pink and white striped favour bags filled with retro sweets? Ice cream sundaes are a must and soft pink flavoured candy floss would make a great treat for your evening reception. I’m also a fan of alcoholic milkshakes so why not mix up something special for an adults-only version of this perennial fave? Serve with fun striped straws in big glasses!

With this theme, you can definitely embrace the slightly kitsch and the oh-so whimsical. I can’t resist the thought of a canine pageboy in his tux and pale pink bow tie! Or how about travelling from ceremony to reception in a hip VW Camper Van? Your guests will love it as much as you do!

I have to say that I’m a huge fan of guest books at weddings as having those comments from your nearest and dearest to look back on or even display at home is just wonderful. For this wedding theme, I think I’d be tempted to set out a pale pink retro typewriter so that guests can write you a note with some old-school tech! For a 50s or 60s theme, music is also super important so using some vintage vinyl as your guestbook is another ace idea. Everyone can sign their names as the jukebox plays the hits!

This black, white and pink retro theme really is so much fun and it’s perfect if you’re a fan of the 50s and 60s and want to host a charming celebration that’s just about as sweet as they come.
