Pantone Colour of 2019: Living Coral Wedding Ideas

February 28, 2019

Every year Pantone announces its Colour of the Year and we are truly smitten with 2019’s choice: Living Coral. We’ve seen Ultra-Violet and Greenery in the last couple of years but we must admit, this vibrant shade of coral is bold, beautiful and guaranteed to add a pop of colour to your nuptials. So, if you’re tying the knot in 2019 and you want a wedding that is totally on-trend, why not incorporate Living Coral into your colour scheme?

Living Coral offers warmth, vibrancy and fun, making it the perfect match for your wedding day. It really is anything but boring! You can use it as the main colour or you can use it as an accent shade, pairing it with gold metallic for a luxe look, or grey and greens for something a little more understated.

Pantone opted for this colour to take centre stage because of an “innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits”, as well as “authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy”. Sounds like the right fit for a love story, doesn’t it?

Despite its bright shade, Living Coral actually lends itself to all seasons so don’t think you are restricted to a spring or summer soirée. If you have fallen in love with Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2019 but you’re having a winter wedding, team it with navy or black hues to add a modern edge.

If you want to embrace the bright, playful aspect of Living Coral for your celebration, there are so many lovely ways you can use it throughout the day. Adorn a wooden ceremony archway with big, blousy coral blooms and plenty of foliage. You could add in colour-popping yellow or fuchsia pink if you really want your floral styling to stand out. Opt for the same blooms as you would use in your bouquet so the design looks completely coordinated. If you want an all-green bridal bouquet, use silk coral ribbon to add a hint of colour. You could do the same with your bridesmaids, it would look gorgeous with pale coral gowns. On the topic of aisle style, don’t be afraid to wear something a little more daring on your big day and step out in a coral gown. A white ombré gown with a subtle coral skirt is the perfect choice for the fashion-forward bridal babe.

A Living Coral inspired wedding cake is bound to make your guests’ mouths water! We think a statement two-tier cake with simple detailing and coral icing will look scrumptious. Serve coral-coloured cocktails to keep your guests feeling cool and refreshed.

Style your wedding breakfast tables with gilded urns that are overflowing with foliage and coral posies. We’re talking oversized peonies, garden roses and more. This will look modern yet luxurious. Complement the centre pieces with golden charger plates, a simple peony place setting and a napkin tied with coral ribbon.

We really couldn’t be happier that this delightful shade of coral has been thrown into the limelight and we look forward to seeing how it makes its mark within the wedding industry for the year ahead.
