10 Amazing Wedding Cakes

March 21, 2014

Let’s be honest, a day without cake isn’t a good one (at least it isn’t for us GS girls!). A slice of mouth-watering deliciousness is a sure way to put a smile on our faces and, if it looks pretty (most of our handmade attempts don’t!), it somehow tastes even better. So you may not be surprised to hear that choosing the perfect wedding cake would be up there as the one of the most exciting task after shopping for ‘the dress’. Looking at an abundance of pretty designs? Choosing the most scrumptious fillings? Tasting lots of sweetness? Yes please! All this cake talk has set our craving off so we’ve spoken to some of the most talented designers in the industry and asked them to choose their favourite of all the wedding cakes they’ve created. Mouth-watering on-trend naked cakes, pretty floral delights and wonderful, whimsical masterpieces, it’s fair to say these beauties are almost too gorgeous to cut!

1. Marie Antoinette

A floral delight in shades of lilac and lavender by Elizabeth's Cake Emporium.  Elizabeth has produced an amazing cake with regal opulence. Perfect to coordinate with this year’s pantone colour – Radiant Orchid.  Elizabeth loves to create beautifully handcrafted cakes adorned with edible jewellery, sugar flowers, lace, pearls and gems.

2. Love Birds & Roses

A delightful spearmint green wedding cake with gold gilt trim, trailing florals and a romantic pair of doves as a topper. Amelie’s Kitchen is all about creating the best tasting and most gorgeous looking cakes.

3. Rosalie

Rosalie by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company is one of Abi’s favourite creations from all her wedding cakes and I have to agree it is absolutely gorgeous.  Featuring white bridal ruffles, gold edible sequins and peach sugar roses it oozes romance and femininity - perfect to complement a divine ruffled dress and a romantic hair flower for brides who adore delicate beauty.

4. Floral Fantasy

A beautiful design by Cakes by Krishanthi, perfect for an outdoor Summer wedding.  Amazing sugar crafted wildflower florals adorn the tiers; you could just imagine a pretty butterfly actually landing on these sensational blooms.

 5. Flights of Fancy…Birdcage

A gorgeous mint green birdcage cake by Curtis and Co Cakes which would accessorise a vintage themed wedding to perfection.  Curtis and Co have won various awards and feel privileged to be able to bake and create beautiful wedding cakes.

6. Country Garden Delight

A gorgeous tiered wedding cake with delicate pink roses by Jane Rose Cakes.  Delightful for a summer wedding, Jane Rose strive to create unique and highly desirable wedding cakes combining luxurious local ingredients with a passion for fashion and perfection.

7. Something Blue

I love an ombre wedding cake and this stunning ruffled cake by Bite Me Bakery is beautiful.  An on-trend theme to coordinate with your wedding colours with effortless ease. Bite Me Bakery boast that "From sketch book to cake stand; it’s more than just cake, it’s love at first bite!".

8. Carousel Couture

A truly amazing cake by Melissa Woodland Cakes, with a beautifully crafted carousel as the wedding cake topper.  Melissa loves to work with customers’ themes and ideas to design a dream cake.

9. Chanel Pearl

Don't be fooled that this beauty by Maisie Fantaisie is totally traditional! Inside you'll find fairtrade Arabica expresso coffee cake with Amedie chocolate and orange zest buttercream.  Decorated with sugar bows and pearls and satab ribbon, the attention to detail is stunning.

10. Niamh

Totally on-trend - naked cakes are perfect for rustic, country weddings.  Uncovered with their fillings oozing, fresh fruit and flowers usually feature heavily in these designs. I love this naked creation also by Abigail Bloom Cake Company which looks delicious with its fresh fruit topping.
