Luxurious Cream & Gold Wedding Theme Ideas

July 22, 2016

There’s no doubt about it – a cream and gold colour palette is just so luxurious and also incredibly elegant. It’s true to say that I am head-over-heels with this timeless combination. I absolutely adore the flexibility that cream and gold brings and, of course, this feature gives me the perfect opportunity to also swoon over Glitzy Secrets’ brand new gold wedding accessories so really, what’s not to love?

As I’ve just mentioned, a cream and gold theme is oh-so flexible. You can adjust the colour proportions so that the overall look completely suits your style and you’ve also got the option of changing your style throughout your day – how about swapping cream table linen for golden sequined cloths for your evening reception or even changing your dress entirely for a party-ready golden ensemble? The choice of colour balance is totally up to you so you can make this look unique and individual.

Brides, a creamy dreamy gown is a glorious choice here but do take a look at some of the new bridal collections because lots of designers have used golden embellishments on their most recent designs and these look spectacular (I’m thinking particularly of Jenny Packham!). Bridesmaids, of course, look wonderful in sequined dresses and don’t forget that you’ve always got the option of on-trend separates with a metallic top teamed with a cream tulle skirt. Golden sandals are always exquisite but I must confess a deep love of cream shoes with sparkling gold heels, especially when they peek out from underneath a gown’s hem.

It might be a little too much to ask your groom to don a cream suit for your wedding day but a tailor-made cream shirt is a fabulous treat. Wear this with a golden striped tie for a look that’s polished and formal but not too twee. In terms of accessories, gold cufflinks and a gold watch works for the guys and girls, take your pick from Glitzy Secrets’ gold collection. A gold wedding headband and gold crystal drop earrings are perfect for stylish brides and maids.

When it comes to florals, you might already know my deep affection for oversized bouquets and large-scale looks amazing with this wedding theme too. Exuberant cream flowers teamed with golden silk ribbons or even one or two flowers sprayed gold are always showstoppers and, of course, you can select the combination of colours that’s going to be suit your wedding style.

Let’s turn our attention to decorations and look at tables first. Here, the world is your oyster as you could choose dense, low arrangements of creamy flowers spilling from golden containers or place single flower heads in little crackled gold votives. Once your florist knows your wedding style, I’m sure you’ll be able to create delightful tablecentres.

Don’t forget that you can also hire in a few golden items to really elevate the look of your tables. Duchess & Butler hire crockery, charger plates, glassware and more and a few details that go beyond the everyday can make a huge difference so don’t feel that you need to hire everything, you could opt for one or two gold pieces – it just depends on the proportion of colours that you prefer.

As I just mentioned, adding a few gold details throughout the day works really well and brings hints of gold to your wedding. A golden topper on a cake iced with cream buttercream, a table plan in a gold frame or cream candles in golden lanterns lighting the aisle or edging your dance floor all bring your theme to life in the most luxurious of ways.
