Maternity Wedding Dresses: Look Fabulous With Your Bump

April 16, 2018

I’ll admit it, I love seeing pregnant brides. They have such a beautiful aura about them and a gorgeous, romantic air of contentment that just makes me smile. The days where pregnant brides tried to hide their bumps are, thankfully, long gone. Now, brides can really embrace their pregnancies on their wedding day and after all, how amazing is it to have your little one at your wedding too? Here’s are a whole heap of maternity bridal dress inspiration for you so that you can look fabulous with your bump not to mention a few other baby ideas too…

Let’s start with the dresses themselves. As you’ll see from the images I’ve chosen to go with this feature, pregnant brides can wear whatever they want! If you’re feeling confident with your bump and want to show it off, a figure hugging gown is definitely the way to go. Look for a fabric with some stretch in it and speak to your bridal boutique to make sure that you order the right size with room for your growing tummy.

On the other hand, flowing gowns look totally dreamy on pregnant brides and these are a great option if you’d prefer something looser. This can be a great idea, especially in summer, so you don’t feel too hot or too constricted. Dresses with a high waist line and a loose skirt can give you plenty of room and they’re super flattering too.

When you’re pregnant, it’s not just your bump that grows. You might want to consider a dress that gives you more support up top too or you might prefer to look for a design where you can wear a good bra. Again, speak to your boutique about options here – they might well be able to help you here too by adding cups to your dress when it’s time for the alterations.

With your dress ordered, think about your bridal accessories too. Bridal flats can be a fantastic idea, even if you just have a pair on hand to change in to later in the day. Your wedding day is going to be a long day so think about what you might need to make sure that you’re comfortable all-day long.

It’s also super important that you trial and test any new makeup products before the big day. Quite often, your skin can become more sensitive when you’re pregnant so make sure that you’re not going to react to anything new. Your bridal makeup trial is also a great opportunity to discuss your look with your makeup artist. If you’re looking a little tired or if pregnancy has given you a few blemishes, talk to your makeup artist because you can be sure they’ll know just what to do and advise you how to look after your skin in the run up to the big day too.

Now, with your bridal look in hand, why not have a little fun with your wedding plans too? You could even use your wedding day to reveal the gender of your little one or even to announce the pregnancy to everyone.

How about using big coloured balloons as a prop for your photos? The colour you use could carry a message to everyone! Alternatively, the shade of the blooms in your bouquet or centerpieces could also be a subtle hint to those in the know. If you want to announce that your pregnant, a super cute cake topper would definitely make sure that your cake-cutting is the centre of attention!

Of course, if you’d prefer not to announce your news on the day itself, why not ask your photographer to take a special photo of you both that you can use on your wedding thank you cards. You could hold a little sign or just hold your hands, in the shape of a heart, over your stomach. Just remember to sign the cards ‘from the three of us’…
