Beautiful Lilac Wedding Theme - Glitzy Secrets
Don’t Let April Showers Ruin Your Wedding Day

Beautiful Lilac Wedding Theme

April 11, 2016

Lilac is one of my favourite colours: it’s delicate, it’s pretty and it’s extremely versatile. Whether you’re planning a rustic wedding wonder or a pastel-filled extravaganza, lilac will fit in flawlessly with your theme!

Why not incorporate this delicate colour into your aisle style? If you’re leaning towards a relaxed, whimsical theme a lilac wedding gown is undeniably feminine, and also somewhat ethereal. A fabulous flower crown is the perfect way to complete your bohemian style.

If a coloured gown doesn’t appeal to you, an elegant, cascading dress with delicate crystal jewellery for brides will look stunning. Amethyst jewellery will colour-pop, whilst looking ultra classy. Keep your make-up simple – your jewellery can do the talking. Tousled hair or a loose up-do will wow your guests as you make your way down the aisle…

Maids in varied hues of lilac and lavender will look absolutely flawless, and most ladies will be more than happy to dress in purple. And for the groom? A simple sprig of lavender in his buttonhole is all your man needs!

Sage is the perfect partner for a lilac colour scheme. So for your flowers a lavender bouquet decorated with some light foliage or chic succulents will complement your theme. Ivory roses and gypsophilia will also help to keep your bouquet looking light and fresh.

The other colours you use to style your lilac wedding will transform the overall look and feel your special day. For instance, team lilac tones with pastel pink for a sweetheart theme. Gold accents will bring out the luxury in your scheme, whereas olive green will create an ethereal atmosphere to your day. The colour palette you choose is down to your own person preference, so work the colours you love into your theme.

Keep your stationery simple – watercolour backgrounds with elegant calligraphy and script fonts. Decorate your venue with muted tones of watercolour lilac and soft mauve. This will work brilliantly against bare wood and whimsical floral detailing. Floral displays in brown wooden crates would look beautiful as centrepieces. Flowers entwined into wreaths will decorate your venue without breaking the bank. This theme is particularly fun if your venue needs a lot of dressing up, as you can completely transform it!

If a dramatic, show-stopping wedding cake takes your fancy, choose a five-tiered masterpiece adorned with elaborate decorative details. Macaroons are currently all the rage in the wedding industry (and I must admit, I’m a huge fan) and I love the idea of a macaroon wedding tower! Macaroons also make ideal wedding favours for your guests to nibble on throughout the day.
